How Can Circuit Therapy Improve Your Hot Tub Soak?

circuit therapy

Hot tubs have long been celebrated for their relaxation and wellness benefits, but not every spa owner is aware of or taking advantage of circuit therapy. With that in mind, in this post, let’s explore how you can maximize the therapeutic benefits of your Caldera Spa by learning how to use each jet to your advantage.

What is Circuit Therapy?

Circuit therapy is a systematic approach to hot tub hydrotherapy where you move from one seat to another, experiencing different jet configurations designed to target specific muscle groups. This method offers a comprehensive massage experience, providing relief and relaxation to your entire body.

Understanding Caldera Hot Tub Jets and Configurations

Your Caldera spa was purposely and thoughtfully designed with a variety of jet types, strategically placed to deliver just the right type of massage right where it’s needed—whether it’s your aching lower back or the soles of your feet.  Here are a few of our favorites:

Euphoria® Jet:

This powerful jet provides a deep, powerful, penetrating massage to your thighs, knees, calves, and feet..

OrbiSsage® Jet:

Ideal for a soothing, medium-pressure massage, this jet focuses on your upper back and shoulders, helping to relieve stress and stiffness.

Atlas Neck Massage®:

A contoured pillow cradles your head while specialized, above-the-water-line jets focus on neck and shoulders.

AdaptaSsage® Jet:

Perfect for a gentle, swirling massage, these jets are designed to soothe your wrists and calves, promoting relaxation and circulation.

AdaptaFlo® Jet:

These jets provide a focused, medium-pressure massage to your lower back and feet, helping to alleviate tension and improve overall comfort.

Sole Soothers® Jets:

A unique feature in Caldera hot tubs, the Sole Soothers® jets are specifically designed to massage the bottoms of your feet. This refreshing experience can be a game-changer for your overall relaxation.

How to Use Circuit Therapy in Your Caldera Spa

To get the most effective massage out of your Caldera hot tub’s jets, rotate through the seating configurations in whatever order you find most soothing and helpful. Here is a sample routine:

Start with a Warm-Up:

Begin your session by soaking in the hot tub for a few minutes to warm up your muscles and prepare them for the massage.

Move Through the Circuit:

  • Your first stop might be the EctaSeat® to focus on your back. Two rows of jets work the back muscles on both sides of your spine, massaging the latissimus dorsi, the rhomboid muscles, and the trapezius. Some Caldera models have jets for your hands and calves.
  • From there, select models have the Atlas® Neck Massage, where independently controlled jets above the water level massage downward on tired neck muscles.
  • Now move to the LumbarSsage® Seat and work on the lumbar region of your lower back. Here, a pair of larger jets focuses on the low part of your back where tension tends to accumulate and where many lower back problems develop.
  • Then on to one of the other areas where the jets focus on the long muscles on the back of the thigh. While jets work on your hamstrings, others are at work on your knees, calves and feet.
  • Our personal favorite – the Sole Soothers® jets – massage the bottoms of your feet. You have no idea how much this helps you feel refreshed until you’ve used it a few times. It’s a foot massage whenever you want (without having to ask).

Adjust Intensity and Duration:

Depending on your comfort level and specific needs, adjust the power of the jets and the duration spent at each station. Typically, spending 2-3 minutes in each seat is recommended. Remember, more intensity is not necessarily better! Your hydrotherapy session should be relaxing and restorative, not something to bear. Adjust the diverter valves and air pressure to customize your massage.

Focus on Breathing:

Focus on deep, slow breathing to enhance relaxation and the therapeutic effects of the massage.

Repeat as Needed:

Depending on your wellness goals, you can repeat the circuit or focus on specific areas that require more attention.
